 The Business

Hamilton Mayer International is working in close partnership with an established general contractor specializing in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. They are a prominent player executing projects that include building bridges, airports, dams, pump stations or tunnels. Having recently been awarded a $450m design-build heavy infrastructure project by IDOT, the team are investing heavily in bringing top talent to help landscape the growing state of Indianapolis.

The Role:

  • The Structures Superintendent is such an integral component to the overall success of the project.
  • As a leader in the industry, you will act as a field supervisor and may have responsibility for multiple Foreman, and/or laborers/craft workers.
  • You with be responsible for the organization, work methods, scheduling, cost control, conformity with drawings and specification, workmanship, and assignment of work to accomplish the execution of the work, either directly or through General Foreman or Foreman.
  • It’s essential to work on maintaining positive working relationships with clients, architect/engineer, suppliers, subcontractors, and jobsite staff.
  • This is a front-line supervisor position reporting to senior leadership with responsibility specifically to the civil construction, with the main focus on structures.
  • You will need to have direct experience supervising crews installing concrete structures, sewer and storm sewer lines including bridges.
  • Our client expects Superintendents set the highest expectations for safety, quality, schedule and cost performance.
  • Responsibilities are to plan and lead operations to achieve project expectations in line with senior leadership while working with a team of engineers and supervisors.

Key Experience:

  • Will be knowledgeable of concrete, utilities and grading techniques associated with heavy civil construction.
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Competence to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Expertise of construction and engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment.
  • Must be able to adapt to new surroundings and with new people.
  • It’s important to be prepared to attend meetings with customers and owners/general contractors.
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience using Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization/time management skills.
  • Must have a positive attitude and possess excellent motivational skills.
