Hamilton Mayer is working with a well-known general contractor respected for building iconic structures/buildings across the US. The BIM/Virtual Design and Construction Department is seeking out an individual that can use their VDC expertise across a number of core markets including hospitality, healthcare, aviation, high-rise, mixed-use and higher education.
The VDC (Virtual Design and Construction) Manager will be responsible for leading, taking full accountability of all field staff with the implementation of BIM / VDC methods and services as necessary to fulfil the role to its maximum capacity.
What is VDC?
Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) is the management of integrated multi-disciplinary performance models of design-construction projects, including the product (i.e., facilities), work processes and organization of the design – construction – operation team in order to support explicit and public business objectives
The Role:
- Successful applicants will encourage the Engineers to use their expertise to the fullest, as they manage model information through: model-based estimating, construction ability reviews, subcontractor model coordination, schedule activity analysis, 4D schedule simulations with schedule forecasts, actual work in place (AWIP) production trending, and 5D earned value reporting.
- The BIM/VDC Manager will lead a team of BIM/VDC Engineers in the utilization of BIM models in both preconstruction and construction while working directly with our estimators, schedulers, superintendents, and project managers.
- Additionally, the BIM/VDC Manager will interface directly with clients, owners and architects and present and market BIM processes and standards, while continuing to develop and implement new processes and standards to keep the organisation at the forefront of the ever evolving industry and it’s use of technology.
- The BIM/VDC Manager can be located either at the Houston or Austin offices, they can be flexible for the right candidate. Furthermore, site visits being crucial to both supporting the continued use and implementation of BIM/VDC in the field, as well as continued expansion of the team’s construction and scheduling knowledge.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, or related fields
- 5-10 years’ minimum experience implementing BIM/VDC services, ideally for a general contractor
- An innovator for technology investigation, training and execution
- Experience of the following BIM software will be highly desirable: Assemble, Synchro 4D, Innovaya
